Antivirus for smartphones
Security issues surrounding smartphones is a growing concern. Some reports
suggest that the number of spyware and malware threats detected on such
handhelds has more than tripled in the last year and is exponentially rising. A
good reason for this is that many of the types of threats that would typically
target a computer are easily adapted to target smartphones.
These might involve spyware that could intercept and report sensitive
information such as text messages, contacts, voice communications and GPS
co-ordinates back to a third party without the user's knowledge. Worse, some
malware attacks work in the form of auto-diallers that call premium rate
numbers, potentially incurring huge fees.
The BullGuard Antivirus for Android module includes an
On-Access spyware scan which scans all applications on install
and update. For the most efficient protection however it is recommended that you
scan your device on a regular basis using the On-Demand scanner.
Scanning your device with Mobile Security
Once BullGuard is registered and running on your device, you can start
scanning your phone for malware to make sure your phone is clean.
Step 1
First connect to the Internet and tap on the Antivirus
option in the main BullGuard screen.
Note: BullGuard does not download the definitions onto
the device but accesses them directly from the cloud. Internet connection is
mandatory in order to be able to perform a scan.
Tap on the green Start Scan button. This will scan the
entire device for infected .apk files which could infect your phone. The
scan should take no more than a couple of minutes.
Once the scan is complete, the results will be visible in the lower part
of the Antivirus screen. Press the back button in case no threats have been
detected, in order to go back to the main BullGuard screen.
